Suhr Challenges Pole Vault World Record at Kent State

American Has Three Near Misses at World Record Height

American pole vault star Jenn Suhr nearly broke her own indoor world record Saturday at the Doug Raymond Invitational at Kent State Univesity. Suhr cleared heights of 4.61m, 4.81m and 4.91m before missing three attempts at 5.03m, just above her 5.02m personal best and indoor world record. Suhr's performance currently ranks her number one in the world and gives her the top three marks on the season, with 4.75m and 4.80m heights back in December.

Suhr set the world record of 5.02m back in 2013 at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her performance Saturday at Kent State was the third heighest mark she's cleared in competiton behind her record and a 4.92m performance at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene.
