Pole Vault Champion Looks to Find Consistency Early in Season

By Scott Bush, DyeStat Editor

On paper, the Doug Raymond Indoor Invitational Saturday didn't seem like a meet fans needed to keep a close eye on for world leading performances. That all changed when Jenn Suhr took to the pole vault runway, clearing 15 feet, 10 inches (4.81m) to easily win the event.

Suhr came back minutes later by taking a shot at her indoor world record of 16-6 (5.03m), challenging a bar height of 16-7.5 (5.07m). Although Suhr failed on the attempt, and closed down her competition without taking another pass at the mark, the 34-year old put her stamp once again on the leaderboards by throwing down the top mark in the world this season.

Suhr likes to compete at smaller indoor competitions to start off her season, so don't be surprised to see her compete in the next week or two somewhere in the Midwest or Northeast.
